Bed Bugs
Negative Characteristics: Bed Bugs feed on our blood whilst we sleep, and leave nasty, itchy spots.
Redeeming Characteristics: Only that they don't spread disease.
Quick Tips:
- Don't remove beds, furniture, pictures, soft furnishings from the room until you have treated them or you will just move the bugs elsewhere.
- Thoroughly clean infected rooms. Bag clutter, vacuum clean, wash. Don't remove items yet.
- Thoroughly and carefully treat the likely hiding places (starting at the bed and armchairs etc) with any of the products listed below.
- Don't use chemical insecticides on the mattress, there are plenty of non-toxic alternatives below.

Your Questions Answered
Q.
We are going to morocco and have heard about bed bugs in some hotels. We will be visiting a number of hotels over two weeks. Is there something we can spray the bed with to prevent problems?
A.
Yes, there are two solutions here.
- The ForteFog 400g Aerosol Spray (found in the natural Sprays section of Bed Bugs) is suitable for taking in your hand luggage and contains sufficient spray to last a couple of weeks. I have checked with the manufacturers and they confirm that it is cleared for use on beds, but personally I would only use it on the bed frame and on the mattress itself, not on the bed linen.
- It would be a good idea to take some small personal protection in the form of either Prevent Personal Aerosol or PreVent Spray which is designed to spray on your skin to keep biting bugs and insects away. Also spray your luggage to keep out hitch hiker bugs. (PreVent Aerosol will be back in stock next week) You could just take three or four PreVent Aerosols to deal with personal protection and to spray on or around the beds.
