Earwigs should not be a cause for concern in the house. Most get brought inside between plant pots and the saucer underneath, or in a rolled up newspaper or boxes that might have been kept in a damp place. They do not really enjoy our living space. Having said that, they are attracted to warm lights so can often be seen on patios or porches making earwig control necessary.
They succumb to any regular earwig control insecticide and certainly to a dry heat, but usually it is enough to shake them outside or hoover them up and empty the bag
