An insect powder is a dry formulation of a contact insecticide. It is designed to be injected into cracks and crevices, or broadcast over open areas and crawl spaces. Powders are often applied wrongly, in piles, alongside skirting or baseboards. Any self-respecting insect will walk around a pile of dust.
For best results, apply using a hand held duster, so the dust is applied thinly and evenly over every surface, making it impossible for insects to avoid as they crawl through.
Insect powder should not be confused with wettable powder. Wettable powder is an insecticide concentrate that is formulated to be mixed with water and sprayed. These powders are easily identified by the ‘W’ or ‘WP’ in their brand name.
